Celebrating 6 Years of Creativity and Adventure at Gamemode One 🎮🎉

Updated: Jan 11

Over the last six years, we’ve created immersive and unforgettable experiences that push the boundaries in Minecraft and beyond. Today, we’re proudly celebrating the 6th anniversary of Gamemode One; a journey that is defined by creativity, passion, and a commitment to crafting extraordinary adventures for our players.

🚀Sean Davidson, Studio Creative Director’s Reflections:

It's hard to believe that it has already been six years since we embarked on this blocky adventure together. As I sit down to reflect on the journey we've been on, I'm filled with gratitude and pride for what we've achieved. From the moment I founded Gamemode One back in January 2018, I had a dream to create something extraordinary within the realm of Minecraft, a game we all hold dear.

In our early days, Gamemode One was a diverse collective of Minecraft enthusiasts, ranging from industry veterans to passionate hobbyists. United by a shared belief that Minecraft lacked something crucial, we set out to make groundbreaking games powered by an emerging Bedrock engine.

Our journey was marked by a blend of seasoned expertise, raw enthusiasm, and a love for the community. This amalgamation of skills and eagerness propelled us into the forefront of game development within the Minecraft Marketplace.

To date we have been fortunate to bring four licensed IPs to Minecraft, including collaborations with Sonic the Hedgehog, How to Train Your Dragon, PAC-MAN, and Avatar: The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra. We have also collaborated closely with Mojang to release innovative, free experiences that you all know and love, such as the Mob Vote Event and Spellrune DLC. Our games tell the story of our evolution from a young and ambitious studio to flag bearers of technically innovative and popular games. The future is bright for Gamemode One as we continue to develop innovative games in Minecraft and beyond.

This anniversary is a testament to the players, dreamers, and creators who have contributed to our legacy. We appreciate every member of our community for being part of this remarkable journey.”

🌐Chinara Adhofer, General Manager’s Message:

Happy 6 years of Gamemode One! It’s so exciting to look back at where we’ve been, how far we’ve come, and how much awesome there still is ahead of us. Since the humble days of our first products, we’ve been expanding the boundaries of the marketplace, and discovering our authentic voice along the way.

At the beginning of our journey, you farmed and mined with us, defeated ghosts and supervillains and even helped lost pandas. You fished and gardened, ate pac-dots, flew dragons and raced past Badniks. In recent years you learned the art of spell-casting and bending, and even joined us in live events with piglins and new mobs! I can’t wait to see what we get up to together next.

I had the pleasure of joining Gamemode One 3 years ago, as Community Manager! I worked to bring more fans and friends to our Discord (I joined at 300 members!), and I had the honour of helping to release Bloom and Ultimate Dragons. The community response to our games has always amazed me and made my day. I’m so lucky to have started my work here so close to our players - the beating heart of what we do.

Three years later, I now find myself at the helm as General Manager, and I’m so excited to be steering the company forward in its sixth year. We're committed to nurturing our vibrant company culture, and we're determined to continue pushing the boundaries of what's possible. It all started with a small group of creators determined to make games and livelihoods in Minecraft - 6 years in, the journey is more thrilling than ever. Here’s to many more years of gaming together!”

🎨Wilson Viegas, Art Director’s Vision:

It is hard to believe 6 years have passed since we started working together. I had been a hobbyist Minecrafter for years at that point, had worked on big projects within the community, mostly Java modding but secretly held dreams of making such hobbyist work a career.

The Minecraft Marketplace was budding at the time and I was approached to join the team. It sounded like an incredible opportunity and a culmination of my efforts in honing my craft as a 3D modeler and generalist artist in the Minecraft style. Little did I know it was actually a new beginning for me; a chance to work with people that approached making games with a passionate mindset that is hard to find in the scene. A team of hobbyist turned experts with big dreams and even bigger talent to boot. During this time, some of these dreams have crystalized into many hits and amazing projects with entertainment industry titans such as Dreamworks, Sega, and Bandai Namco. And our talent has only grown as we challenge each other to be more ambitious and create better games.

I am now Art Director of our Minecraft projects, and I lead a team of incredible artists to work on more ambitious projects. I have come a long way since I first started making minecraft animals for fun in Techne. Many things changed in my life. I have moved from my home country, the beautiful and warm Portugal to join the team in our offices in Canada, and what a journey it has been.

As Minecraft grows as a platform it is reassuring to know that we have not scratched the surface of what we can make. Cheers to Gamemode One, for these 6 years and the incredible fans that appreciate and enjoy our games; we make them for you!

🌟Cheers to the Community:

To our incredible community, thank you for six years of shared moments, and the joy that comes from exploring together. Your passion fuels our creativity, and we can’t wait to continue this journey. As we celebrate this anniversary, we extend our deepest gratitude to you for being an integral part of our story. Here’s to you - our source of inspiration, our fellow adventurers, and the driving force behind what we do!

Here’s to many more years of crafting unforgettable experiences and redefining what’s possible in Minecraft, and beyond.

Happy 6th anniversary, Gamemode One. 🎂🎊🎮
